New try in my Zengrow

Hi!

Today I took some cuttings of my Black Cayman, Porta da rua and my basil. I have fired up my Zengrow again, so that's where I put them. The Zengrow is fantastic when it comes to cuttings.

We'll see how this works. At least they don't have to suffer from the strong winds and weird weather out on the balcony. With the timer, "weather" will be very predictable. Sunrise and sunset on exactly the same time each day :-)

Wishing you all a great week!

Hot regards,

Pequin from Ischia in the Zengrow

What a great surprise! My old Pequin from Ischia has germinated in the Zengrow!

This is not the best picture. It's my basil jungle taking over the Zengrow, but you can see the small seedlings there.

Excitement!

Trying to grow Pequin from Ischia in the Zengrow

Inspired after the "salad" discussions earlier, I decided to put some Pequin from Ischia seeds in the Zengrow. It's my first attempt to grow chiles in the Zengrow, so that's going to be exciting!

What I remember from the Pequin from Ischia is that it's a very compact plant, so I hope it's going to be perfect in the Zengrow.

More about this later.

Best wishes for a good week!

Home grown salad in the middle of the winter :-)

Today we picked our home grown salad that we started before going to India. December 14th. So it's now more or less than six weeks since we put the seeds in the "containers" in the Zengrow.

It worked really well! OK, it took a while before the salad was ready. And no large scale growing. But the taste was excellent! And as an experiment it was really fun!

We have already started new salad seeds in the available "slots" in the Zengrow. New exciting varieties :-)

Salad

It's been a couple of weeks since I put the salad seeds in my Zengrow. Now the salad is growing, and they leaves are around 10 cm.  Soon we will have fresh salad to eat :-)

Salad

My basil and tulsi are doing fine in the Zengrow. And the experiment with peppermint also worked fine. So today I picked the peppermint to release some space for salad (Lactuca sativa).

So this is the current setup. One basil, one tulsi and four "pots" with basil seeds.

I have just dropped some seeds on the growing material. I wonder if it works...

I hope that you all have a good December with not too much stress before Christmas!

Going back to my roots...

Every second/third week I clean my Zengrow. I'm growing basilica genovese and tulsi. With the basil, I make a fantastic pesto, and with the tulsi I make a very nice tea.

Check out the roots! Aren't they "impressive"?!

Have a nice weekend!

It is working :-)

Days like this, especially when we have early snow, the chile pepper growing season feels very distant. This is how it looked this morning...

So, it makes me extra happy to see the progress in my ZENGROW. My "test" basil, peppermint and tulsi are doing fine. I have added the first nutrition tablet, and the small plants are developing very nicely.

Have a hot weekend!

A new project

Yesterday I got my ZENGROW, a "tabletop garden".

So today my new project started. I took cuttings from my tulsi, basil and peppermint and placed them in the device. I have many more ideas what to grow in it, but in order to get some experience I think this is the perfect start.

I will keep you updated on the progress.

Have a nice weekend!
