Other chiles in Stockholm

Hi!

There is a commuter boat crossing the lake Riddarfjärden. Some days I take the boat home.

Yesterday I noticed a plant in the captain's hut. A cup wth a chile pepper plant. I couldn't read it all, but it has careful instructions about how to water it.

Isn't it great. Even chile peppers on the lake :-)

Cherry blossoms in Kungsträdgården

Depending on the weather, it might be another week before they are in full bloom.

But it sure was fantastic to see all the blossoms again.

It's the same miracle each year :-)

(Final) harvest - almost

Hi!

A small harvest for lunch. On the top, there is CGN 21500. A very nice C. chinense. Good heat, and fantastic flavor that fills your mouth. Clockwise, we have dedo de moca, immature trepadeiro Werner, Peru yellow and ripe trepadeiro.

I have kept the plants out on the balcony until now. The warm autumn has done wonders for the peppers. They were all very late because of the slow start of the summer, but now we are in sync :-)

Here are some that I picked today. Will get back with better pictures. Clockwise. Top - trepadeiro,  piriz, aji dulce and dedo de moca.

Not everything is about chile peppers. We have the Chinese Navy visiting Stockholm. It's been a wonderful day. I think everybody was out in the warm weather :-)

Stockholm - question

I like to walk around in Stockholm with my camera around my neck. It's good as a change to crawling on the balcony, taking pictures of peppers :-)

Hi,
 a short update. So far, the plants look fine out on the balcony.

This is the view from the kitchen window. Even the tall Dedo de moca is OK. (Phew!)

And my chinense on the other balcony is fine. It is not totally covered by the protective net, and it gets very windy there. But, so far it's OK.

Under the net, there is another "climate". Nice looking plants.

Tropical Stockholm

Hi!

The "much above average" temperatures continue. Today we had strong winds and lots and lots of rain. Almost like the afternoon rain in more tropical places. I was greeted by chaos on the balcony.

A few branches broken, but no major damage...

The long weekend has started! The weather is great! The chiles are OK out on the balcony, though they are quite tiny. I hope that will change, if the good weather persists.

Stockholm halo

Well, there is not much activity going on with my chile peppers for the moment.

I want to share this with you. This morning was pretty cold, around -6C. Looking out through our bedroom window I saw this fantastic halo.

Too bad there is a house in the way. But I think it's fantastic anyway.

No chiles, but Stockholm

I need to warn you. This is a totally non chile related blog entry, so I hope that I don't bore you. But - I just have to share the beauty of our early winter with you.

It's been really cold for the season, with lots of snow. Today it's been around -10C, with high humidity.


Here is the bar/restaurant that is very crowded during the summers. Not many people there today. It's beautiful to see the reflections in the water, where the ice is forming.

I probably have 500 pictures of this bridge (Västerbron). Today I enjoyed the silence and peace that only is experienced when it's really cold.

Because of the high humidity, the trees get frosted. Have a look at this wonderful scenery at Långholmen.

One of my favorite spots that I sometimes go to when I have left Carl in school in the morning. Here is Smedsudden in a wintery landscape.
