New try in my Zengrow

Hi!


Today I took some cuttings of my Black Cayman, Porta da rua and my basil. I have fired up my Zengrow again, so that's where I put them. The Zengrow is fantastic when it comes to cuttings.

We'll see how this works. At least they don't have to suffer from the strong winds and weird weather out on the balcony. With the timer, "weather" will be very predictable. Sunrise and sunset on exactly the same time each day :-)

A small update and a black currant cutting

Hi!

Yesterday I repotted some more chiles.

The really small ones, that I'm not sure if they will make it, have been put in bigger pots. Usually I wait for the roots to develop. But I want to stress these little fellows to see if they start to grow faster. Or rather, to see if they start growing. The ones I'm talking about are:

• Bod'e
• Patricia's (Pimenta cambuci)
• PI 441624 Porta da rua, Aji Yuquitania

The other ones that are in the biggest pots now are:

• Dedo de moca
• Orange cheiro - svag?
• Aji norteño

Also, the Trinidad Scorpion Morouga Blend has got a new pot. It's looking fine. I will get back with some pictures later on.

In the meanwhile, I'm sharing this picture with you. It's a cutting that I took from my old black currant bush that is living on our neighbours yard since probably 10 years. The cuttings have been out on the balony all winter, deep frozen, only covered with some fiber net. It is alive and it seems to be able to make it. Amazing!

It's soon time for the first repot 2012

Three more varieties have shown up. It's my porta da rua / aji yuquitania, canario and the cheiro from Recife. The cheiro from Recife doesn't look too strong, so I'm not sure it will make it. I saved the seeds when we were in Brazil in 2001. So they are quite old.

In total, I now have 14 different varieties growing. It's far away from the "old me", when everything less than 50 was more or less nothing :-) This is how it currently looks...

Plan "C"

Well, it looks like many of my old seeds won't germinate. I sure want some more varieties than I currently have... So I'm activating Plan "C".

Today I started some other old favorites.

• Aji norteño (C. baccatum)
• Maraba (C. chinense)
• Cumari (Salvador)
• Bod'e (C. chinense)
• PI 441624 Porta da rua, Aji Yuquitania (C. chinense)
• Canario (C. pubescens)
