Moving out

Hi!

A week ago, weather was like in November... Today it was more like July..

I checked the weather forecast, and it looks promising. So today, I moved the peppers outside. It's earlier than previous years, but I'm tired of having a jungle indoors... :-)




Here I am with the dedo de moca. I'm almost 2m tall, so it's a tall plant. Amazing. It's from seed that I started four months ago. Cool.

  

The shorter ones are under a protective net on the smaller balcony. The sun and the wind are the two forces that can break the plants before they are hardened.

My overwintered pequin from Ischia has some pods turning red already. And the dedo de moca from last year  has one pod that soon will be ripe too. Quite a luxury to harvest nice peppers in mid May :-)

Hi!

It's getting more crowded for each day. Can't wait for the plants to move outside :-)

Some nice flowers on the new varieties. You can click on the image to see more pictures. It would be nice to see some pods soon, but I guess it is too early for that. Anyway, I'm enjoying the flowers.

This one too is new for me. Not a chinense, but an annuum.

They said on the news that we can expect colder weather, so I guess they will stay inside for some more time...

Easter pods

Hi!

I keep some of my overwintered plants in the kitchen window. Usually I don't keep plants over the winter, but this year I gave it a try. I even  cut the roots earlier this year, and repotted them in new soil. (http://chilesinstockholm.blogspot.se/2014/01/repotting-old-ones.html). The result has been over my expectations.

Here is the dedo de moça. I has some nice pods.

 In the foreground, there is the peru yellow. Also with some nice pods.

 

And finally, my pequin from Ischia. This one is full with pods, but they are hard to spot.

No pictures of my overwintered cumari and goatsweed, but there are some pods on them too. Nice, maybe we will have some fresh peppers for midsummer :-)

First one to flower...

I don't know the name of this one. I labeled the envelope - Brazilian, small, red, hot. It's a very nice plant. Compact with strong stems. Hope it will set fruit!

"Semi jungle"

Honestly, not much to "report". This year's plants are growing fine. And the over-wintered ones are producing fruits, making me wish for fresh ripe chiles peppers for midsummer. :-)

Sitting in my armchair, this is my view...

 

As Patricia says - this is a jungle. Can't wait until they move out on the balcony.

March update

Hi!

End of March already. Today I have been busy repotting some plants. The table in our living room is occupied with pots and plants :-)

Here are some pictures of the plants that I have overintered.

Pequin from Ischia. Very nice. Full of flowers, and some tiny pods.

Goatsweed. This variety is always hard to take pictures of. Somehow the pods are darker than usual.

Dedo de moça. The first "pod". Who knows. Maybe I can pick som peppers for midsummer :-)

Peru yellow. Looking good. Plenty of flowers. Maybe, maybe som pods...

This is a variety from Brazil, that I don't know the name of. I just loved the  distinct patterns on the bottom of the leaves.

Repot again

February 1st. Less than a month since the chile pepper year 2014 started. I repotted some more today. All can still be contained in the same "green house", which is good. Controlled chaos :-)

Soon, some of them will bee to tall to stay in the green house, and move outside. But, more about that later.
